By Martian (Adam) Smyth.I'm not known for my eloquence. I can fill in space with meaningless words when needed. But not when I actually care about what I'm writing about. I thought for a long time about this essay, and decided I couldn't write any more than this:
That covers my feelings pretty clearly, I hope.
- Democracy depends on the expression of peoples beliefs, but without freedom such expression is not possible.
- The Internet would allow us to take a step closer to direct involvement in our government, if only we would use it.
- The Internet was a medium of free expression where every voice is given a chance to be heard.
- The Communications Decency Act does nothing less than destroy that freedom of expression.
- Democracy is supposed to represent the people, not repress the people.
- Destruction of freedom is the destruction of Democracy.
