By Xia, mailto:xia@cyberspace.org.A little over a year ago, I found something that has become precious to me. A place built on information. Somewhere that ideas were free. And now, lawmakers in the US Congress are working to take that away. There is something wonderful about a place that allows me to say completely what I think. I don't want to lose that. Limiting speech on the internet kills the idea of what it ought to be. A place of thoughts, free and open. At 16, I seem to be one that some legislators seek to protect by this restriction of speech. And I wonder what they would protect me from? Ideas? Ideas are only harmful when people do not know how to deal with them. So teach me to deal with the thoughts that you would supress, instead of showing me to fear them. Fear teaches me nothing. On the internet, I found a place where I can speak my voice. A place where I can learn about how the people in the world around me think. Let freedom of speech continue, and let the youth of the country learn to understand the world.
